Crafting Dollars – Turn Your Hobby Into Serious Cash

Crafting Dollars turn your hobby into serious cash

Crafting dollars to turn your hobby into serious cash should be one of the most natural methods of money making you should be taking advantage of right now.

Because you already have a passion you enjoy, why not turn it into cash. Many people have hobbies which they enjoy working on for at least 6 to 8 hours a day.

Seriously a person is already spending 6 to 8 hours a day on their hobby should have no problem telling others about it. As a matter of fact, they should know the subject inside out.

How can you turn your hobby into serious cash?

I love sewing. The best way for me to turn my sewing into cash is to imagine my friends asking me questions about sewing.

For example:

  • how to attach a button
  • how to hem pants
  • how to thread a needle
  • how to cut a pattern
  • how to lay out a pattern
  • how to pick the fabric

These are just a few things I could blog about. As you can tell just off the top of my head, I already have five topics to blog.

Sewing has so many more topics that can be discussed as can your hobby.

Crafting dollars with your hobby will not be all roses. There will be times you will struggle. Now the struggle might lead you to hate your hobby.

When people ask me how to turn their hobby into cash, I usually ask them five questions.

Will your business ruin your hobby?

The only reason I have not started a sewing site is that I know it will ruin my hobby of sewing. For me, sewing is a stress release.

Having to come up with topics to write about sewing, would not be fun at all.

I want to keep my hobby private. I know if I were to blog about it, it wouldn’t remain a hobby anymore.

It would be more like something I would have to do rather than I want to do.

How do I know is?

The reason I know this is because I can sew all day long, but I have no desire to talk or educate others about it.

This is something you have to seriously think about before embarking on turning your hobby into a business.

Would you be able to talk about your hobby eight hours a day versus doing your hobby?

What I highly suggest is visit the link below where you can get a free website. Give your hobby a trial run for let’s say two months.

If after two months you feel like you can keep going. Great, then keep at it.

But if you feel like you’re running out of things to say about your hobby, that’s when it’s going to start feeling like a chore.

At this time I would suggest going back to keeping it as a stress release pastime.

What is something your hobby has taught you?

Since you are going to be talking about your hobby, you need to figure out what your hobby has taught you.

For instance:

  • you learned patience
  • you developed time management skills
  • follow direction

By knowing what your hobby has taught you. It can help you to create more topics.

This way you are not only writing about everything that revolves around your leisure pursuit.

But you cannot elaborate to bring in different topics which are indirectly related to your hobby.

Is there a genuine interest from the public?

This is something that you really do need to focus on. These are the people who will be the ones to actually show an interest in your product.

By learning who your market is you can niche down in such a way to target that population.

These will be a group of people that talk about your hobby. You can find them in forums, other hobby sites as well on Reddit.

Finding people interested in your product is where you’re going to make the most gains. Without interest, you have no buyers

Do you have a place where you can create a passion for your hobby?

By this I mean do you actually have a website where you can start creating a passion for the population interested in your hobby.

This will mean getting:

  • domain name
  • domain hosting
  • creating a website

Having these three things is vital to being successful in selling your hobby. The best way to be seen online is by having your own space where you can create your work for others to read.

There are many options available out there.

But today I’m going to talk about a FREE WEBSITE option. The place I want to talk about trains people to become super affiliates.

Most of the people that are members of this program are all working on their passions. It is pretty amazing how they are selling their passion to others who hold the same interest as them.

Wealthy Affiliate will teach you how to create a passion for your topic so that others will buy. Read my Wealthy Affiliate University review to learn more about this great program.

As I said crafting dollars to turn your hobby into serious cash is not too difficult.

Remember when you start something which you have a passion for can have enormous dividends for you.

The place I’m suggesting is totally FREE, NO credit card information is required.

The creators of the platform believe in what they have created, they are willing to give you a Starter Account For FREE, click on the link to get started right away.

You really have nothing to lose, but much to gain.

If you need any assistance on getting started or creating a site, please let me know in comments below how I can help you.

  1. I like making jewellery, so I’m thinking about making a site with tips on how to make jewellery, tutorials, etc. I love talking about it, but I don’t know how it’ll work if I HAVE to write about it. I think there are a lot of women that would like to make their own jewellery, so there is an audience.

I hope it goes well. Thanks for the info.

Gotta go now. I’m starting my own business!

  2. I am glad that you mentioned doing what you love versus talking about what you love. This will provide clarity for someone who is thinking of blogging. But from my experience, talking about my hobby has been a journey. Did I learn patience and time management skills? Yes I did!

I bet once people start talking about their hobbies they can start to see how easy blogging is, and take advantage of the many earning opportunities available through blogging. I joined Wealthy Affiliate with the free website option and it didn’t take long before I upgraded.

    1. It’s difficult to talk about what you love if you’re doing a hobby only for yourself. Especially if you have no passion to share with others. But if you have a passion to share with others of how great your hobby is and how they would benefit from doing it as well, then I would say definitely do it. Thank you for your comment.

  3. Very interesting, I have been looking for an avenue to make money off my main pass-time for a while now…

I love audio engineering, and I have produced many projects for people over the years – I’m wondering how easy this would be to turn into a successful online business?

I like the idea of having my own website on the subject, but I am wondering how easy it would be for that website to make money? What monetization would you suggest?

    1. If you feel that audio engineering is something that you could talk about to others, then I would say go for it. Having your own website is probably one of the best ways to get into business online. The best way to monetize it would be to sell items related to audit engineering.Thank you for your comment.

  4. When I first started my online business, I got confused of the different conflicting suggestions. One guy suggested that I should not go after my passion, just like how you described in the first part of your article here. Then, there’s another guy that told me I have to blindly go after my passion because if I do it, it will lead me naturally to success…

Today, I got a clear mind to understand what it takes to craft my passion into a thriving business online. And I would like to thank you for the clear explanation here, like that hint of having to know what my hobby has taught me. By following this piece of advice from you, there’s a guarantee that a person blogging about his or her passion would never run out of ideas to blog.

    1. It all depends on the kind of patching you’re doing and how invested you are into it. Some people love talking about the passion to others, some just want to do their passion privately. Great that you have a clear mind On how to turn your passion into a thriving business. Thank you for your comment.

  5. Turning what you love doing as a hobby into a business or market it substantially is a great way to become more fulfilled in life. I think that you should focus what you love doing into a very narrow niche so that people can effectively find it. Do you think that making your niche more narrow gets better results?

    1. I agree to turn what you love into a career is great, so as long as you have the passion to keep talking about. I know that narrowing down a niche is good, but you still want to keep it broad enough where you can introduce new topics. Thank you for your comment.

  7. I can feel motivated by reading your article. You have convinced me to move a step ahead and try this, I have been looking for places that help your hobbies become an income, however, WA is by far the best one I ever tried.

I like the way you break down the way you did this process, going straight to the point and telling the truth.

Thank you very much for sharing.

    1. Glad that you found this article motivating. I wholeheartedly agree with you that wealthy affiliate is by far one of the best programs which can help us to market our hobbies a financially abundant way.

Just make sure that you don’t ruin your hobby for yourself by turning it into a business. Thank you for your great comment.

  8. Hi Jag!

Turning passion into a lucrative long-term business is a way to go for many people when considering making money online. It applies, especially to newbies. Why is it so? Because being passionate about something means being motivated and full of energy for the coming efforts related to making money online.

The passion will keep you focused, energized and less distracted or tired on a long term period. Regardless of what niche you are in, being passionate is a wheel of your success.

So, I can only recommend to anyone, when choosing an online business and taking a decision to start within your niche, choose something you are passionate about. It will make it all easier for you, believe me!

Wishy you a lot of passion and great success!

    Best regards,

    1. I agree with you that turning passion into a long-term business can have great outcomes. But only if it doesn’t ruin the passion for the person. Thank you for your comment.

  9. among other things, I am very loving of cats, with an age of over 33 years; when I entered WA I asked myself if it would not affect my hobby; I entered 4 months ago and I can say my passion has increased (if you can still lol); I write with great pleasure about cats and more, I became even more careful about my cats and their needs; it is likely that each of them works hobbies

    1. Cats are universally loved by almost everyone. So turning that into cash is a phenomenal idea. I like how you say that you’ve learned more about your cats need since you started a passion around them. It’s great that you can share this with others as well because there are many others like you who just love their cats. Thank you for your comment.

  10. Thank you for this great post.

You’re right, there’s definitely a fear of turning what you love for fun into work.  That’s why I never took SCUBA diving to the Master Level.  I didn’t want to be chosen to keep an eye on everyone vs enjoying my dive.  That said, I think the type of hobby and how you turn it into a business plays  a role.

I may not want to be a Dive Master but I can still write about diving; places to go, equipment reviews, techniques, tips & tricks, and so on.

I actually turned one of my hobbies into a business.  I love flying my drone.  I even make money as an FAA part 107 certified pilot.  I  have a lot of info to share with others and I built a site around it.  The best part is, I don’t find the writing or even creating videos about my hobby, work at all.  It’s fun.

Another thing I’d like to share is, you may have a lot of information to share but, if you’re feeling stuck, you can always see what others are asking in your hobby related social media groups and so on.  Chances are you’ll find inspiration there.

    Thanks again for this post,

    1. That’s awesome that you can share your hobby of flying drones. Finding inspiration where people are talking about hobby related items on social media is a great tip. I want to thank you for that.

Like you say the fear of turning a hobby into a business can have detrimental effects. Unless we really want to talk about the hobby and let the world know how great it really is. Thank you for your comment.

  11. I appreciate you for this post. Maximizing hobbies into getting cash is a great thing the internet has to offer in form of affiliate marketing but knowing the process to go about it is the only problem that everybody has and to which you have simplified in this post. I’m a member of wealthy Affiliate and I am learning a lot on how to monetize my hobby. Thanks for this post, I learnt well

    1. Great that you’re a member of WA. They have so much to offer at that program, I’m constantly amazed at the new things they come up with which help to market our passion. Thank you for your comment.

  12. Most certainly there is a market for monetizing any number of crafting hobbies these days, and a website is a good place to start down that path. I have several hobbies that I have created e-commerce stores around, and I also publish content on these sites via a blog.

It does not take away my joy at being involved in the niches, but that is by design. I fully understand your reasoning for not wanting to start a sewing niche website as the burdens of creating content, finding keywords, using appropriate images, etc. can take the joy away…

In my case, what I have done is to hire VAs (virtual assistants) so they can do a lot of this heavy lifting for me. It relieves me of this and does not tear at my interest in the hobby. Most certainly I would feel like you if this were not the case. Of course, that brings up a whole other set of issues to deal with.

Because there are good ways to earn money by getting a website up that revolves around a crafting hobby that you may enjoy and know a lot about, I would recommend that for someone who wants also to earn some extra cash from what they love. Just take precautions so it will not spoil your hobby for you.

Good post on how to start earning money from your crafting hobby and I am sure that people will be inspired by your tips and ideas! I was…

    1. Yes, you’re right there are so many hobbies that can be crafted into dollars online. Glad that you have turned your hobbies into e-commerce stores while still keeping your joy impact.

Great that you been able to hire a virtual assistant to talk about your hobby if you don’t feel like it. I enjoy sewing, but not talking about it so much. Thank you for your comment.

  13. You are right, most of us are stuck with our jobs and never thought that we can earn some money with our hobbies. For me, I have always struggled with my weight since I was little. I have tried all the diets and finally in my 30s I found that all the diets is nonsense. I made it my passion to educate people that dieting doesn’t work. I can talk about it all day, but I don’t think that this topic is considered as a hobby but it is something that I am passionate about. I am currently in the process of making my passion into money. We will see how that goes.

    1. Anything can be a hobby. When I was into training at the gym, it was the passion of mine at that time. I became a personal trainer to help others, now that was a passion I thought was worth sharing with others. Great that you are turning your passion into making money for you. Thank you for your comment

  14. Hello, I really appreciate your time and effort on writing about turning your hobbies into serious cash which is something that I keeping hearing gurus talk about, they say that when you love what you do then you never have to work another day.

The way you laid it out is perfect and informative. I absolutely love cooking for my family but there’s no way to turn it into a career because it would ruin it for me. Cooking full time at a restaurant and cooking a dinner for my wife is two completely different things. Thank you for taking the time to do a great article.

    1. Glad you found this article informative. Like yourself, My hobby is sewing Is something I only do for myself and my children. I’ve had people who’ve offered me money to stitch quote for them, but I’ve turned that down as well. So I know writing about it would be a great chore for me. Thank you for your comment.
